Kindergarten
The students have learned that books are on the shelf in ABC order as they continue to learn about the alphabet. They have also listened to and discussed the book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. After hearing the book they colored their names that had been printed using "wild thing" font. This book is soon to be released as a movie.
First Grade
First graders have been contrasting and comparing original fairy tale versions with a wacky counterpart. They have also listened to and discussed the book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. After hearing the book they used "wild thing" font to type their names, print and then color their names. This book is soon to be released as a movie.
Second Grade
Second grade has continued to help with the Bill Martin Jr. Picture Book Award project. They have also listened to and discussed the book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. After hearing the book they used "wild thing" font to type their names, print and then color their names. This book is soon to be released as a movie.
Third Grade
Third graders have been introduced to two opportunities that start in third grade. The first is the chance to help choose this year's winner of the William Allen White Award. The second is to be part of the KU Reading Program and being recognized for their reading achievement. They have also learned how to log into the computers in the library to get to the online catalog.
Fourth Grade
Fourth Graders have learned about the William Allen White Award Nominees and their opportunity to help pick this year's winner. They have also been invited to join the KU Reading Program and be recognized for their reading achievement. New to the library computers have required learning a new way of logging into their student accounts and the online catalog.
